The annual meeting of the Masterton Football Club was held in the Club Botel on Saturday night, about twenty members being present. The oliair was occupied by Mr E. M. I). Whatman,
A report of the past year's playing was presented, showing that of nine matches played none had been lost Sixty-five points had been scored for the Club and eleven against. The Treasurer'reported receipts for the year amounting to £52 8s 5d and expenditure £45 6s Bd, leaving n credit balance of £7 Is 9d,; The BSSftts amounted to £864 7s 9d, and the liabilities to £153 6s fid, leaving a balance of £2ll Is Sd. During the year a dressing shed had been built, whioh was iosured for £ls. The Chairman complimented the Olub upon the state oi its finances! The balance sheet was adopted as read, ' ■ ■ The following officers were then elected Patron, Mr G, Beetham (re-elected); President, Mr A, W. Cave, (re»eleoted; Vice-Presidents, Messrs Hessey, Day, Xeisenberg, Pownall, Perry, W; M'Kenzie and Macarn (re-elected); Captain, Mr E. M, D, Whatman, (re-elected); viceCaptain, Mr A. E. D'Aroy; Secretary, Mr R. J, Malcolm; Treasurer, Mr E. H. Eton; General Committee, Messrs Watson, E. Holmwood, H. and C, Perry, and R, Gray; Match Committee, Messrs Malcolm; D'Aroy, and 0, Perry; Delegates to the Union, Messrs Malcolm, Gray and D'Aicy; auditors, Messrs W. B, Chennolls and 0. Perry (re-eleoted).
A Committee consisting of Messrs Eton, Perry, and D'Aroy was op. pointed to arrange for the Southern tour. It was announced that a guinea medal had been given for a half-mile handicap race to be run before Easter. It was resolyed to hold the annual ball in June, and to carry on the
gymnasium the same as last year. About a dozen new members, including M'Kenzie, the well known Carterton forward, and several promi- 1 nent Te Ore Ore players, were elected. Votes of thanks to the retiring officers and the Chairman concluded the meeting.
The Red Star Club opened the season on Saturday when a scratch match was played on the Park Oval between teams picked by Messrs B. Cinders and T. Welch, The ground was very hard and the weather warm, so that the play was not so brilliant as it might have been.
