LARCENY, A yoang girl of sixteen years, em. ployed as s. general servant at tho Temperance Hotel, was charged with the laiceny of a gold locker, gold guard, gold chain, ring, and Bij&,of the value of £4. 105, the proSerw of Mr W.W.Scott. . Mr Pownall appeared for the defendant and, asking that the case be . dealt with summarily, pleaded guilty, The gill had, he said, boon led away by unscrupulous lads, for whom she ' * had taken the artioles ,The parent of the girl ; were respectable citizens, aud he would ask that she therefore be - ■" dealt .with as. leniently' as possible, The case.would no doubt be a* warning to the child.. Ho; trusted.the Bench would seo its way clear'to;discharging the'accused with a caution, or dealing with her under the Probation Act, As the Probation' Officer 'reported favourably upon the previous condlict of the accused, His; Worship said he would deal with the case, as leniently < as possible.
