Many questions of a serious character were involved in the present change, These questions relate to vast tracts of land, on the disposal of which, upon fair and equitable principles for both races, the welllare of the Colony def needs, The feeling of the Auckland imbers, with one or twp exceptions, d of the Government supporters generally, is strongly against the change. Messrs Lawry and Jackson Palmer, M.'a H.R., have sent the following despatch to the Premier this afternoon in respect to Ministerial changes " We aro certain that the Government made a huge, if not fatal, mistake in the recent changes. Whilst fully recognising Mr Carroll's ability, we think, for his own sake, the mis. take has been intensified, He was certain eventually to obtain a port* folio, but in the proper way. Mr Cadman, as Native Minister, won golden opinions here, and we consider displacing him destroyed a career of great usefulness."
