The venture of the Acclimatisation Society in placing trout and salmon ova in the country rivers is bearing fruit. A few evenings since as I was passing a bole in the Mangaramararaa stieam I noticed numbers of trout of two ditfurent species disporting them* selves in the warmth of the evening. There should shortly be fish for all here, The antics of a descendant of the Vikings have been calling considerable attention upon the individual himself the last few days. He hired the Publio Hall tor the avowed puts pose of giving a leoture on some mystic and subtle question, but as the hire money was not forthcoming the caretaker naturally declined to " light up" until the next evening, when it was stated the rent would be paid. The same ceremony ensued the second evening. In despair at last the would-be impassioned speaker mounted an improvised rostrum (a beer Keg) in front of the Publio Hall and addressed a few remarks bearing principally upon the speaker's name and place of residence to the mob who were thirsting for knowledge or more likely a sensation. The man is evidently going mad and should be charged withlunaoy before he becomes worse.
