BENEVOLENT SOCIETY.

An adjourned meeting of the North Wairarapa Benevolent Society was hold at the end of lust week, there being present Messrs R. M, Galloway, S. E. Gappe.-, W. Perry and B, D. ■ Dagg. Letters were read from the Borouijli and County Councils, stating that Ors Sapper and W. Perry had been appointed trustees on behalf of the former and Messrs \V, H, Beetham, J. Stuckey, R. D. Dagg, and R, M, Galloway on behalf of the latter for the ensuing terra of twelve months, On the motion of Mr Dagg, seconded by Mr Gapper, Mr R. M, Galloway was re-elected Chairman. Tho Treasurer roportcd tlinb tho sum of £4113s 4d had been received from the United District Charitable Aid Board since last meeting, Outstanding accounts, as per schedule, amounting to £4910s 3d, were passed for payment. The diary was read, giving particulars of casual cases relioved during the month, and applications for relief by a widow with a large family, and two wives, with largo families, whoso husbands are supposed to bo in Australia. The Solicitor to the Trustees was instructed to take proceedings to recover tho amount owing by the Wanganui Charitable Aid Board on account ot the Williams family, and it was decided that a copy of- a letter trom Dr Hosking be forwarded toiho Board, stating that Williams was now able to travel. It was decided to refer some of the applications for relief to the Dorcas Sooiety, for an opinion upon the re* quiremontß of certain fumilies. It was resolved that arrangements bo made with the County and Borough Councils for obtaining stone-breaking work,

The following cases were reported fto be receiving relief:—Mrs Annie Weaver, 153 per week ; Satab. Clements, 15s j Nora De Prates, 10s; Miss L, Jenkins, 10s; G. Hedgerand wife, 10s; W.M.Ford,7s; Charles Dunn, 7s; Caroline Weill, 15s; Mrs Lyons, 15s; Gerald Sandelberg, 7s; Williams family, 12s; Mrs Beere, ss; Mrs Potter, ss; Mrs Clifton's children, 25a; Mre King's child, ss. The fixing of the amount of relief to be extended to the families of Mrs Peacook and Mrs Neary was leftover to enablo further enquiries to be made. The Chairman and Secretary wore appointed to deal with theso cases, The meeting then adjourned,
