BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Statutory Meotinjr.
The statutory meeting of the Masterton Borough Council was held last evening, there being present His Worship the Mayor and Crs Heron, Dixon, Mutne, Gapper, J5. j£. Chamberlain and Perry. Mr C. A. Pownall, the Mayor-elect, made the usual declaration. He apologised for not having been present at the fixed statutory meeting. He felt sure if the harmony which had prevailed during the latter term of his office continued, the ratepayers would have no reason to regret their choice. He did not expect that he would again stand for election, but lin trusted that during his term of office he would receive the support of the Council as ho had done in the past, (hear, hear). Leave of absence was granted to Or E. Feist owing to illness.
