ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary meeting of the Mauriceville Road Board was held on Saturday, November 2bth. Pn-sent —Messrs G. Gundersen (Chairman), H. W. Jackson and W. Jesseu. Tne minutes of the previous meeting were read and continued and correspondence outwards. Messrs Frasi and McKenzie reported that Mr Brut was making satisfactory progress with bis Ihuraua Koad contract and that a progress payment of £IOO should be made to iiim. They also advised that the contractor be allowed to make an alteration in the road at a certain sharp turn, the extra work to be at a prico agreed «ipon. It was decided that the contractor be employed to do the extra work required in making tbe alteration as it appealed to be the opinion of tboße ratepayers most interested that the deviation would be an improvement. Mr Herlund waited bn the Board and requested to be informed when tenders would be called for metalling Maur'ceville West Road and also drawing the attentioa of the Board to defects in tbe formation. Mr F. Hansen desired tbe Board to take immediate steps to repair the damage done by the contract to his fence on the Mauriceville West road. He was informed that arrangements would be made to repair tbe damage with a 9 little delay as possible. Tbe Board went fully into the whole question of Mr Kelliher's contract and finally decided that if he failed to finish tbe contract before the Ist December, tha contract be determined, and that the Board get the work finished by day labor. It was resolved to take steps to strengthen the bridge on the South road. Mr Jackson mentioned that Mr Dorset desired that a bridge should be erected over the Kopuaranga to give bim access to bis section No 2., Block V., Kopuaranga. It was the opinion of members that it might bo possible to coustruct a low level bridge with the secured thirds in hand. The only tender for fencing on Mo Munro road west was tbat of Mr Hemming Neilson at £3O for 40 chains more or less.—Accepted conditionally. Mr Lars Schow's tender for felling and grubbing the above mentioned road at £1 per chain was the only one received and was also accepted conditionally. Cheques amounting to £16817s 9d were passed for payment. Bates collected since last meeting £lllos.
