CRICKET.

v- Masterton,

A cricket match between teams representing Greytown and Masterton was played"' at Greytown on Saturday last, resulting in an easy victory for the former. The Masterton team was essentially a scratch one, and a number of the players were suffering from influenza. Thip will account for the bad stand they made. The wicket was in perfect order, and the game was a most enjoyable one. The principal scorers for Greytown were Uru and Bowse, who knocked together seventeen a piece, Nicholls and Tait coming next with fourteen each. Malcolm and Beechy were the only two who made anything like a score for Masterton. The former in two innings put up fifty-one runs, making the bebt hit of the day—a hit to leg for six. Beechy scored thirteen in the second innings. Greytown scored 140 in their first innings, whilst M-isterton only succeeded in putting together 39. They therefore went to the wickets a second time, and when stumps were drawn had scored 65 for eight wickets. The most destructive trundlers for the victors were Uru and Udy, and for their opponents Mxlcolm, Iggulden, and Perry. The following are the scores : GREYTOWN.
