The election of five Trustees for the Wellington Board of Benevolent Trustees takes place at Wellington on December 7th. Ratepayers aro being conveyed to and from the poll in vehicles, and it is expected that nearly eyery ratepayer in the Eorough will record his ycte. The result of the election will probably be known about 6.30 p.m. At a meeting of settlers interested in the procuring of a water supply from the Waingawa, held on Saturday last, it was resolred that a guarantee subscription list on a valuation basis cf ail those wh«m the scheme shall benefit be opened for the purpose of defraying the cost ot survey, the Engineer's estimate of the ccEt being ±'3o. Messrs Meredith, Hcssey and T. K, Chamberlain were appointed a Committee to interview the settlers, to obtain signatures to the subscription list for the expense of the survey. Since the meeting we understand a large number of Signatures have been obtained. A further meeting of settlers is to be held in a few days to discuss the practicability of obtaining a supply of water for the town, with a Committee of tlw Masterton Borough Council. h J.
