WELLINGTON PRESBYTERY.

The Wellington Presbytery l met yesterday afternoon in the Pcfiaby* terian Church, Carterton, t'he fceVMr Thompson, Moderator. It was reported that the Presbyterian population in the Forty-MHo Bush was increasing, Messrs Murray, Wood and FcSt were appointed ut Committee to visit the district and report on the niarler of the supply of ordinances in this settlement.

The following resolution was nioved by the Rev J. Kennedy Elliot and unanimously adopted :—'• The Pres.. bytery having heard reports from members regarding the progress of the temperance caiise in tjje Wairarapa as Wealed in the results of the mi Licensing elections in Masterfon and .Carterton, whfcji showed that the community was nearly rjpo for'prohi* bitipn, the traffic having the support of only a small majority of the electors, the Presbytery agrees to place on record its gratification at the progress made in this branch of social reform, Mid its appreciation of the way in.
