A leading member of the English bar has been retained on l.ehalf of tbe Duke of Orleans in the Mulba divorce case.
The Duke of Orleans states that he will not hesitate to submit himself to examination in an English Court.
The claim of Cresswell, or Sydney, to the Tiohborne estates is exciting much interest in England. Unless the emblems of Faith, Hope and Charity above the initials R, D. T. are on the left forearm, it is considered that it will be impossible to establish his identitv.
The New Zealand and Australian Land Company has declared a dividend of 10 pur cent. To provide shis, however, £15,000 has been taken from tbe reserve fund. Business has largely increased during the year, but the pro6tß have proportionately been less. Sir J. Fergusson. PostmasterGeneral, is employing army reserve men as postmen in the rural districts.
Mr W. L. Jackson, who becomes Chief Secretary for Ireland in place of the Right Hon A. J. Balfour, will bo returned unopposed. The jubilee of the Prince of Wales was celebrated yesterday with salutes, pealing of bells, and a great display of bunting. The bells at Westminster Abbey were rung, and the Lord Mayor's pageant was of an unusually gorgeous appearance, but the festivities weregieally interfered with by a downpour of rain.

By an explosion in a colliery in Nalicoke, Pennsylvania, 18 miners were killed and many injured. In the Monte Christo Mine, Washington territory, a lead of gold 4ft deep and 400 ft long, has been opened out. Washington, November 9. The re-hearing of tte Sayward sealing case has been opened. Affairs in Tennessee aro alarming. The miners have sworn to murder the convict labourers, and have demanded that the Governor should resign.
