CONCERT AT TENUI.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) A very enioyable concert, the proceeds from which are to be devoted towards improving the Town Hall, was held in the Hall on Friday evening last. Visitors from many miles round, more distinguished being the Johnston, M.L.C., and two The seats were well filled, hundred and fifty persons present. audience with " It was a fairly carrying her hearers with her into a seventh heaven delight, and there was do mistakJH the crash of thundered applause **W greeted the fair singer at the sion of the song. The encore was graciously responded to and the audience further gratified with " Twas within a mile of Sweet Edinbro Toon." Mr Hancock was unfortunate in coming after such high class music, but he gave ?« Margery May" tn excellent style, and has improved a lot since his last appearance. He received well merited applause. Mjss Owen sang "When Sparrows build" and was deservedly encored. Mr Blackler followed with an Irish comic song without accompaniment, ' 'Fininghan," his contortious countenance being 220 s * amusing, recejved a well merited encore. 'After au mteryaj of fifteen minutes a pianoforte solo by Miss D. Cameron was much appreciated and the talen*. ted young lady was highly applauded. Mr A.. Cameron then followed with "Ye Gallants of England." Kooti was in his usual form and was de&rye'dfy encored. Miss Tafct'en sang ; >'Dublin Boy "' whjijh Vaa' heartily! applauded. Mr Undop "The Tar's Farewell," but he wp| unfortunate in suffering from a severe cold, and though he tried his best, disappointed both himself and the audience. A hitch here came in the programme, and Miss D. Cameron came to the rescue with " Maritana," a pianoforte solo, which was extremely well rendered and deservedly received loud applause, Mesdames Greenwood and Lawson then sang tlje duet\'/'o'er'the"Hills," which waß % real treat and undoubtedly ilie gen! of the evening' The enraptured audience signified their approval with tremendous applause and a demand for an encore, which was graciously responded to with the last verse. The accompaniments during the evening were excellently played 6y Misses I(, Cameron and Owen, and Mrs Greenwood. After the Goncevt the hall was cleared for dancing, when fifty couples availed themselves of the opportunity to trip the light fantastic, and the fun went fast and furious till long after daylight. The music was supplied by the Misses Cameron (2) and Owen and Mesdames Hancock, Mason, Lawson and Greenwood, the latter owing to her'falenta and good, nature being specially in" request' Mr Hancock ably officiated as M. C. and abundance of refreshments were supplied throughout the night. The proceeds from the concert and dance amounted to no less than eighteen pounds.
