RIFLE CLUB.
A meeting of the Whakataki Te Nui Rifle Club Committee was held at the Te Nui Hotel on Saturday evening last. Present: Messrs Messrs A. Mcßutchon (chairman), W. H. Langdon, R. E. Maunseil, C. J. Norton,, J. B. Osborne, and A.J. Speedy. The minutes of the prevics meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence was read Secretary Tauera Rifle Club, inviting the Club to a friendly match at Taueru on the 9th November. The Chairman reported having sent for a supply of M.H. ammunition and another consignment of M. H. Rifl-js. It was docidod to supply members with the new ammunition at the reduced rate of 10s per hundred, each owner of a M. 11. Rifle to have tho option of purchasing one hundred and fifty rounds, and a fresh rate to be fixed when next supply is obtained. The range deputation reported that they had waited upon Messrs Maunseil Brothers who had offered the Glub a good range for fixed matches. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Messrs Maunseil Bros, for their generous offer, and it was decided to let the matter stand over for the present. Messrs Mctlutchon and Norton reported that they had found a good range up to four hundred yards, suitable for present requirements, within a quarter of a mile from the township, and Messrs Speedy Bros, had agreed to give a five years' lease, at a nominal rental of one shilling per annum. Messrs Speedy Bros, liberal ofier wan accepted, and a hearty vote of tbpnks tendered them, and it was agreed to survey and clear the land at once. It was resolved that Mr Handyaide's trophy and Messrs J. Nathan and Co's trophy be fired for at both old ranges on Saturday, 7th November, and the following extra prizes wjre allotted:— Class A—Wm. Dougall's trophy, 2nd 5s ; Class B—A T Hancock's trophy, 2nd 5s ; Clans C—lst 7s 6d, 2nd ss. Ammunition ins'.ead of cash when preferred. The challenge from Taueru wai accepted and the following team nominated :—Messrs Alex. Cameron, C. Cameron, J. Cameron, J. Groves junr., W. Liver ton, A. McHutchon, 0. J. Norton, J. B, Osborae, J. O'Connor, W. Pickett, J. A. Perry, A. J. Speedy, D. Speedy, W. Speedy, the final selection to be made next price firing. Five new members were elected, bringing the strength of the Club up to fifty-three paid-up members. Classes were rearranged and the meeting terminated with a vote of thanks to the Chairman.
