RIFLE CLUB.
The Whakataki-Tinui Rifle Clubs opened the season on Saturday last with prize firing at both ranges. The attendance was not so large as anticipated, shearing and Bbeep work preventing many from attending. The ranges were two, three, and four hundred yards ; seven shots at each range. The wind was very uncertain and the light bright, the shooting being below the average. The following were the winning scores:— Class A. —W. Liverton, 58; C. J. Norton, 51; A. McHutchon, 49. Class B.—A. Cameron, 52; J. B. Osbourne, 47; B. E. Maunsell, 42. Class C.—J. 0. Sutherland, 88; J. Cross, 26. The prizes were :—Class A.—lst, Hunting Crop presented by James Elliott and Co.; 2nd, 10s; Brd, ss. Class B.—lst, Silver Maltese Cross presented by A. Henderson ; 2nd, 10s; Brd, ss. Class o.—lst, Card Stand presented by Messrs G'aselberg and Co., 2nd, 10s ; Brd, ss.
The next prize firing will take place oa the 9th November.
