TOWN LANDS TRUSTEES.
The monthly meeting of the Masterton Town Lands Trustees was held last (Friday) evening, there being present Messsrs W. Loves (chairman). B, P. Perry, S. E. Gipper, andH.E. Eton.
The minutes of the previous meet ing were read and confirmed. The Treasurer reported a credi balance of £IOB ds 4d,
SCHOOL OF DESIGN. •Mr A. D. Riley, Director of the School of Design, wrote, stating that the Committee was not prepared to purchase the Masterton school plant. The property of the Committee would, however, be removed to the central school. The Chairman said it would be better to vest the apparatus of the School of Design in the headmaster of the public school. If the school was resuscitated it could again be applied to that purpose. On the motion of fie Chairman, seconded by Mr Gapper, it was decided that the apparatus be vested in Mr Jackson.
It was resolved So ask Mr Riley to remove any portion of the plant belonging to the Education Department.
ACCOUNTS. An account of £2 5s from Mr C. E. Daniell for repairs to a building was passed for pigment. The half-yearly grant of £25 for the Library loan was passed. CORRESPONDENCE.
From Mr J. J. Falk, stating that he was sorry he could not keep to his agreement with regard to the broom paddock at Euripuni. He could not see his way clear to destroy the broom. He would give a shilling a week for the use of the paddock, or would cut down the broom in return for its use.—lt was resolved that Mr Falk have the use ot the paddock for a year on condition that he cut down and destroy the broom. From the Rev. Father M'Kenna, thanking the Trust for its grant in aid of St. Patrick's school.—The amount of the grant was passed for payment. MASTERTON SCHOOL. The Secretary of the Masterton School Committee wrote, stating that the full amount required for the school was £123, and requesting that the application for this amount be favorably considered. Mr Gapper pointed out that a proper statement had not before been forwarded by the Committee.
The Chairman recommended the Trust to absolutely refuse to make any grant towards flooring or repairing the school. Mr Gapper : If this has been the decision of the Trust before 1 shall certainly support it.
The Chairman: I move that we give the Committee £6O, in two instalments of £3O each, for the ordinary requirements of the school, such requirements not to include repairs to school buildings, or any other property of the Education Board, and that the funds of tbe Trust will not permit of any further grant during the current year. Mr Gapper seconded.—Carried. THE BLACK LIST.
The black list was read and considered, and the meeting then adjourned.
