CRICKET.
An adjourned meeting of the Masterton Cricket Club was held in the Club Hotel on Saturday evening, about twenty members being present. The chair was occupied by Mr A. Walker.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.
Mr Wickens intimated that the Star Club was willing to amalgamate with the new Club.
Mr William Iggulden was appointed hon Secretary and Treasurer to the Club. It was resolved that the assets and liabilities of the old Masterton Club be taken over.
The following officers were elected: —President, Mr W. G. Beard; vicePresidents, Colonel Roberts, R.M., and Mr A. Walker; Captain, Mr E.M.D. Whatman; vice Captain, Mr C. A. Pownall; general Committee, Messrs C. Perry, E. L. Leaks, and J. Wickens.
The annual subscription was fixed at 10s, boys under 17, ss. It was resolved that a fixed uniform be adopted by the Club, the color to be red and black. The Secretary was instructed to write to the Park Trustees, requesting permission to play on the Park Oval.
The General Committee was empowered to make all arrangements for opening the season. Mr D. Jackson was appointed custodian to the Club, and Mr Bone umpire. Several new members were proposed. It was resolved that a costume football match in aid of tbe funds of the Club be held on the Worksop-road ground on Saturday next. The Committee was empowered to take steps to hold a ball or concert in aid of the funds of the Club. Mr Pownill intimated that he would give a bat for the best man in the Club during the season. The offer was received with thanks. The appointing of delegates to the Association was left with the Committee. I The meeting then adjourned. 1
