W. Harvey v. H. Claim, £5. Mr Pownall for the plaintiff. The plaintiff, sworn, stated that on June 18th he lent a mare to Valentine with, which to ride into Carterton from Taipo station. The defendant offered to return the. horse to Gladstone on the following day by Mr Grant. It was left in the Marquis of Normanby stables for Mi Grant. Witness did not receive the horse till July 9th, having found it then at the White Hart Hotel stable* at Carterton. The mare waa in very poer condition when he found her, and he had to pay £2 to the livery stable keeper for keep. He was now claim* ingthis amount, with £3 for damages for the depreciation in the value of the mare. James Stone v. Henry Camel!.— Claim, £1 10s Bd. Judgment for amount, and Court costs 6s.

Hans Petersen v. Charles Collier.— Claim, £1 12s for goods sold and delivered. Mr Bunny for plaintiC Judgment for amount claimed, with costs, 7s.

Sutherland and several natives r. Benata Paora.—Claim for damagee done by the defendant through liberating from a yard eighteen steers whiob were being branded. Mr Pownall appeared for the plain r tins and Mr Beard for the defendant Robert Sutherland, sworn, stated % r am charging the defendant with having interrupted me in branding eighteen steers, the property of thv plaintiffs. On 19th of August w» were branding when RvtuU into the yard with Natives. One of the Natives made* speech and said if we branded with another Native's brand we wouldafa alright. We went on btaudug, woW the defendant and his brother opened the gate and liberated the cattle. The cattle were purchased from Messrs Lowes and locns. Paora and hif brother had no claim upon the cattle; The brand was that of the three plaintiffs. By the defendant's action he had been prevented from branding the cattle. ■ °

. By Mr Beard : The cattle wen beirg branded on the Native rewire, and were being run, there by the eon. sent of hie partners, the two Natives. Four other Natives had an interest in the cattle, which were purchased from Messrs Lowes andlorns in my „owa name as trustee for the partner!. There are about eighty or a hundred owners of the reserve. They hare ceased to hare an interest in the stock because they refused to sign the gage deed, I wished to brand thff* cattle with the brand of the partners and not that of the tribe. There are 18,000 acres in the reserve, on which there are running eighteen head of cattle and about 3000 sheep. The case was not concluded when we went to press. ■A
