SUPREME COURT.

WELLINGTON.-WEDNESDAY. FALSE PRETENCES. John Curnue pleaded guilty to ten charges of obtaining goods by means of false pretences. The evidence in this case was reported when the accused was before the Resident Magistrate's Court a tew weeks ago. His Honor sentenced the prisoner to 18 months' imprisonment with hard labour,. Assault and bobbery. 40^ Robert Shilling, Patrick Ryan, and William Tiiomas were indicted that that they did on the 25th of August assault and rob one Charles Maney. Mr Gully prosecuted, and theprisoners who were defended by Mr Coates, pleaded not guilty. The evidence was similar to that given when the prisoners appeared before the Resident Magistrate's Court three weeks ago. The Jury retired shortly before 7 o'clock, and in half an hour returned with a verdict of not guilty. The prisoners were then discharged. [by telegraph.] Wellington, Wednesday. At the Supreme Court, Cbrisjtaa Hansen, for Betting fire to the Island Bay Hotel, was sentenced to three years' hard labour.
