CRICKET.
Formation of a New Olub,
A meeting of those interested in the game of cricket was held in the Club Hotel on Saturday evening. About twenty persons were present, the chair being occupied by Mr A. Walker.
Mr C. Perry, one of the convenors of the meeting, stated that it was for them to decide whether tlaey should form a new Club or join the one at present in existence. The liabilities of the old Club amounted to £l, and they had materials of the value of £l.
Mr Whatman thought it would be better to form a new Club. He would move that a Club to be known as the Masterton Club be formed,and that the Star Club be asked to amalgamate.
Mr Wickens seconded.—Carried,
Mr W. Iggulden was appointed Secretary, pro tem.
Nineteen names were handed in for membership, and it was decided to hold another meeting on Saturday next to complete the amalgamation of the Clubs, appoint officers, and transact other necessary business. A committee consisting of Messrs Iggulden, Perry and D'Arcy was appointed to make arrangements for holding a costume football match in aid of the funds of the ulub. A vote of thanks to the Chairman terminated the proceedings.
