A football match between ths 2nd fifteens of the Petone and Bed Star Clubs was played on the Park Oval this afternoon. The visitors were the stronger in the scrums, but they were overmatched by their opponents in the loose play. Soon after the commencement of the game, Taylor, (Petone) fell over the line and secured a try. The kick at goal was a failure. An unsuccessful kiok at the goal was also made by the visitors from a mark obtained in the Star's fifteen. The Stars played pluckily, and about the middle of the spell Benall made a

smart run and passed to W. Thomp* son, who got over. Emmett took the kick and placed a goal, At the conclusion of the first spell the game stood, Stars three points, Petono one.
