Auckland, September 3. By the Ovalau Mr. H. C. Wick, well known in Ohinemuri mining circles, took oyer to Sydney 1680 bags of ore (45 tons) for treatment by the latest improved methods in Australia, or at Freiberg. The ore was taken from Woodstock and Kenilworth mines, at Karangahake. Mr. Wick will examine the latest methods of treating ores in Australia. The Acclimatisation Society communicated with the Sydney Accl> matiaation Society, asking them to forward prawns, also to Mr. Hugh Craig, of San Francisco, to forward Cahfornian lobsters, with a view of introducing them in New Zealand waters.

Another of the students of the Otago School of Mines has obtained an appointment abresd, Mr F. F. Baldwin having by last mail received the offer of an appointment in an assaying institution" in India sufficiently tempting to induce him to accept it,. He leaves to-morrow via Melbourne,
