Sheep Returns.
The interim returns of Bheep in the Colony on 80th April, 1891, was laid on the table of the House of Representatives yesterday. The approximate number is as follows : • Auckland District. 1891 1890 Increase 602,600 484,023 118,477 Napier District. 1891 1890 Increase 8,685,240 3,559,119 76,121 Wellington-West Coast District. 1891 1890 Increase 2,917,680 2,545,204 872,476 Mablborough-Nelson District. 1891 1890 Increase 770,808. 727,094 43,708 %0 Cantebbubt-Kaikoura District. 1891 1890 Decrease 4,858,528 4,888,263 84,735 Otago District.
1891 1890 Increase 8,969,841 8,912,409 57,482 The total number m 1891 is 16,749,692, against 16,116,113 in 1890, showing an increase of 668,314 which, with the decrease in Canterbury of 84,735, gives the approximate increase for 1891 as 638,579. The increase in the North Island is 567,174, and in the South Island 66,405.
