ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary meeting of the Mauriceville Road Board was held on Saturday, August 29th, Present— Messrs 6. Gunderson (chairman), C. Forsberg, H. Jackson, and Bannister. A communication was received from tbe Secretary to the Treasury informing the Board that the loans of £2OO and £4OO respectively, would be paid over in a few days. Messrs Rose and Messenger wrote, requesting that the bush be felled on road line giving access to their run, and offering to get it done at 30s per acre.—lt was decided to agree to tbe arrangement. Mr H. Larsen's offer to form ahout 2k chains of road at section 118, block 14, Mangaone, for the sum of £8 10s, was accepted. It was decided that Mr Jannett be informed that his proposal that a certain sum of money he bad expended on a bridge should be accepted by the Collector in lieu of rates, could not be entertained.
The Engineer recommended that Mr M P Britt be paid £SO, and Mr M Kelliher JEISO, progress payments on their contracts. Mr Kelliher wrote, claiming payment for extra work on Central Mangamahoe road, but the Board decided that the claim could not be admitted till passed by the Engineer Mr Rawson, isijr?eyor, recqromeijded that Messrs Petersen - and Mortenson h 3 pale) the balance 4>)e on tj)eir contract, and also stated that plans for Mauriceyille West JJoad would be r3ady in a few days. The Ghairman was authorised to call for tenders for the formation and metalling of this road as soon as the plans and specifications were received. A progress paymant of £7 was made to Mr C Petersen on his fencing contract.
Applications for the post of ranger were rpc&iycd from Messrs W Vile, J-A'skew, \yinther, Andersen, and j Sigvertseri.—Mi' J Sigvettaen Was eleoted. Cheques amounting to £2-74 4s were passed for payment. Kateß collected since last meeting £75 6s Bd.
