THEATRE ROYAL.

Dobsoa-Senaedy Goapaay.

The opening performance of the talented Dobson-Kennedy Company in the Theatre Royal last evening was highly successful, and was much ap» predated by the large audience which greeted this third appearance of the Company in M>stsrton. The piece produced was Tom Taylor's sensational drama, " The Ticket-of,Leave Man," which ran smoothly from beginning to end. The plot, which is a simple one, has already appeared in our columns. As Bob firierlv, Mr Collet Dobson pourtrayed his character with the utmost skill, and was frequently applauded for his heroism, whilst as May Edwards, Miss Lily Hill was quite at home, and sustained her part in a most creditable manner. In the hands of Mr Kennedy, Hawkshaw the Detective was represented to the very letter, and for his clever acting he was several times called before the curtain. Mr Jem Dal ton the villain, could have found no better exponent than Mr Frank Norton, who was a study in himself, his partner, Mr W. fl. Cowan, being equally successful. The precocious " Sam" was faithfully interpreted by Miss Idrane Thornton, whilst Mrs W, E. Jermyn was quite at home as her grandmother. Mr W. E. Jermyn performed in h creditable manner the character of Maltby, i and Mr H. Saville as Mr Gibson ephibited considerable skill in the pourtrayal of his part. The whole of the minor parts were ably sustained, the performance being altogether one of the most pleasing ever witnessed by a Masterton audi* ence.

The Company appears to-night in " Little Lord Fauntleroy," which promises to be the piece of the season. We expect to see a crowded house to witness the clever performance.
