She was staying on a visit with Un AlexlnglU, of Dunedin, at time. 1 called at the National 1 Bank of New Zealand branch in England and asked them to cable for the amount. I received the amount. The other £lO was given me by my wite'a I trustee, Mr Hftwkimt, of PalmerstOQ

When I passed through Wellington from Palmerston North on my way to Master ton, my wife save me the money to buy the furniture (£30.) Some of the things wanted were not in stock and had to be made. Some was damaged in transit on railway. I claimed for damages and whs paid £l. I was about to forward Scoullar and Chisholm the amount of their invoice when they sent me a three months p. n. for acceptance. I signed the p. n. and kept my wife's money. 1 earned from November, 1890, to June 1891, £9 J4s4d. I owe Hawkins £l2O for board and lodging for myself and wife. I gave tho bailiff every opportunity to'prevent my filing. I borrowed money to file. I have no offer to make to my creditors but shall try to get out of my position by degrees.
