DALEFIELD DAIRY FACTORY.

sThe annual general meeting of the Dnlefield Dairy Company will be held on Friday evening at Mr F. H. Wood's rooms, Carterton, when the directors will present the following report: Gentlemen, —We submit herewith our fifth annual balance sheet. During the past year 305,911 gallons of milk were received, and out of tbis 1,434 gallons were sold, and the balanoe made into cheese, producing 313,650 pounds. No difficulties have arisen this year in obtaining space in the steamers, but two shipments have unfortunately been landed in London in a bested condition, entailing very heavy losses. Your Directors hope, however, to be able to recover something from the Shipping Company. To meet the growing requirements of the business a new curing room has been added, thereby doubling the storage accommodation. The packing room has also been enlarged and floored. To meet tbis outlay additional shares have been allotted, bringing the subscribed eapital up to £IB7O. A profit of £6B 16a 8d has been made on the Pigs account. After setting aside £9l 10s 6d which has been added to the Milk Suppliers' Purchasing Fund, and £122 0s lid for payment of the usual dividend of 10 per ceut per annum on the paid up capital, there remains £lO6l 15s 5d for distribution. This is equal to a little more than 4-5 the of a penny per gallon, which, considering that the losses on the English shipments amount to £4OO, is a satisfactory return. The investment ahares in the Grey town Buildirg Society held in connection with the Milk Suppliers' Purchasing Fund hare this year realised a profit of £26 0» 2d which, with amount of £9llos 6d now added, brings the fund up to £BO6 2s Bd. Mr Seed having left the district, his successor, MrMuir, has kindly audited tbeaacounts. Messrs R. Fairbrother and J. Stevens retire by rotation, but are eligible and offer themselves for re-election.
