(Before Colonel Roberts, R.M.) BREACH OF BOBOUOH BYLAWS. William Keeble was oharged by Inspector Ingram with failing to employ a nightman. The defendant, pleaded not guilty, stating that the nightman had called regularly. On the application of the Inspector, the case was adjourned till next Court day. Hapeta Ihaiah was oharged with keeping swine in a small enclosure within forty feet of a dwelling, and was fined Is and 7s costs.

BREACH OF RABBIT ACT. Henry Richardson Elder wia charged on the information of Inspector Mackay with failing to des< troy the rabbits on his property at Langdate. Mr Bunny appeared for the informant and Mr Beard for the defendant* Frank Earnest Orbell, sworn, stated; I hold an appointment under the North Wairarapa Kabbit Board, Acting under instructions 1 vii»i«u the property of the defendant, the area of which is between 12,000 and 18,000 acres. On the 7th qf May I visited the "Little Taiwift" which contains about B,oofound rabbits very— l ßUtfiSrous. A _of eleven men had commenced work otic the lower three thousand aores. On the lai of June following I again visited the property and spoke to Mr Elder about taking simultaneous action with hiß neighbours. I inspected the property for a third time on the 18th June and found thing* in an unsatisfactory condition. The grain used for poisoning was sour and discoloured, and the rabbits would not eat it. The rabbit* were very numerous on the poisoned country. I again visited on the 18tb, and went over that portion of the country known as tho flat spur, in company with the defendant. I found the sour and discolored grain, being used here, and spoke to Mr Elder about it. the 7th of May and the 30th of July very little redaction had been made in the number of rabbits. The past has been an exceptionally good at season for the taking of poison by rabbits. I visited the property of Mr O'Connor, adjoining, and found that there had been a very satisfactory poisoning there, and very few rabbits remained. By Mr Beard: The rabbits have not decreased generally. This is my first appointment under the Rabbit Board, but I have previously had experience in destroying rabbits. Mr Elder appeared to be quite satisfied with the grain he was using. The rabbits were numerous on adjoining properties, but no information to my knowledge has been laid against the —owners. By Mr Bunny : I have been superintending the work of poisoning Crown Lands, and have also poisoned at Annedale and Brancepeth. Inspector Mackay alto gave evidence. Mr Beard submitted that the information was bad inasmuch as certain superfluous words had been inserted. The Bench upheld the contention j #Mr, Beard, and the case was missed. j
