Mr Harkness aaked the Minister of Agriculture, umler the authority of what Act regulations have been made to prevent the importation of grape yines to the colony / Will the Governinent amend the existing regulations for the preventing of phylloxera, so as to permit of the importation of such varieties of the grape vinea as are proof against the attacks of the above jiamed pest 8 The Minister of Agriculture iu reply said it was the opinion of the Solicitor General that he had the authority upder a certain Act to prohibit the importation of grape vines, The Government oould not at present amend the regulations, but he sug« gested that the whole matter should be referred to a committee for consideration.
