Mills gave notice to move that a sum be placed on the supplementary estimate as compensation to the sailor who had his leg broken on the Eailway Wharf by the rope of the Hinemoa breaking. FEDERATION. The Premier, in reply to Captain Russell, said the federation proposals could not be brought forward again unless notice was given in the usual way, but as there was an evident deBire on the part of the hon. members that the discussion should be resumed, the Goyernment had no objection to placing a day at their disposal. (Hear, hear). GOVERNMENT INSURANCE. Replying to Mr Fisher the Colonial Treasurer said the legal business of the Government Insurance Department had been taken away from Messrs Buckley and Stafford without any reason whatever being assigned, and given to Messrs Kirk and Atkinson. STATE BANK OF ISSUE. Tbe Premier, in reply to Mr Taylor, said the Government had no intention of bringing in a State Bank of Issue Bill. BOYAL COMMISSIONERS. The Premier informed Mr Buckland that provision would be made for tbe payment of members who had served on the Boyal Commissions during the recess. LAND AND INCOME TAX BILL. The above Bill was discussed at some length, and the House adjourned at 11.55.
