BOROUCH COUNCIL.
Committee Meetings. A meeting of the Works and Finance Committees of the Masterton Council was held last evening. Present—Crs Heron, Mutrie, and E. Chamberlain. The Overseer reported on the works done for the past month, and recommended— 1. That Eurupuni Street be repaired. 2. That the ruts in Short Street be filled in. 3.- That Railway Road be repaired. 4. That West Bush" road be repaired, and that the roads metalled this season be attended to before the dry weather sets in. It was reselved that the Overseer be instructed to prepare an estimate of the cost of forming the south end of Dixon Street. The model of a machine for street sweeping wa3 submitted by Mr G. b. W. Dalrymple, but it was considered that it was too late in the season to make experiments. Accounts as presented were recom- » mended for payment. GAS AND LIBRARY COMMITTEE. Ameeting of the Gas, Library, and Fire Brigade Committee wasalscrneld, there being present Crs Feist, Perry, and Dixon. It was resolved to give Bedell's gas governojjsa trial of a month. Or Town Clerk were books for the Library. It was decided to recommend to the favourable consideration of th Council the request of the Secretary of the Municipal Fire Brigade that the services of John Butcher as engine keeper to the Kurupini Brigade be recognised.
