Mr Pownall for plaintiff. Adjourned for a fortnight. Edward Wadham v Richard Field. —Claim, £2 7s 3d for work and labour done. Mr Pownall for plaintiff, Mr Bunny for defendant. The claim was admitted, but a set-off for 19s 4d was put in. Elizabeth Field, sworn, stated that goods to the value of 19s 4d had been delivered to Wadbara.

Cross-examined by Mr Pownall: The goods were delivered monthly by myself. I remember delivering butter in Febuary. Mr Pownall: Why do you pick out Mr Pownall: But you must give youf reason. Witness: Well, because I was at home. Mr Pownall: Oh, you remember delivering butter in Febuary, 1888. Mr Bunny : Are the pvices fair and reasonable 1 Witness: They are. Sixpence a pound for butter; it could not be got as cheap in Masterton. Richard Field and Henry Feild gave corroborative evidence. The plaintiff disputed the articles in the set off. The Bench allowed a set-off of 15s, - and judgment was given for the balance. A cross-actiou, in which Mrs Field sued Wadham for services as a nurse was also heard, judgment being given for the defendant.
