GOVERNMENT INSURANCE DEPARTMENT, The Minister of Justice informed Mr Fisher that Mr Davy had not yet reported on his arbitration as to how much of the legal business of the Department was to go to Messrs Buckley and Stafford and other solicitors.
MAORI-POLYNESIAN COMPARATIVE DICTIONARY, Replying to Mr Meredith, the Minister of Education said the Government had ordered 100 copies of the "Maori-Polynesian Ootnpara* live Dictionary," the cost of which would be placed on the Supplementary Estimates, and the House asked to vote for it. FEDERATION, The Minister of Education, replying to Mr G. Hutchison, said on Friday evening the Premier would move that the House adjourn till 7.80 on Monday evening in order to discuss the question of Federation. The procedure would take tLe form of certain resolutions to be moved by the hon member for Newton, Sir Georgo Grey.
SELLING THE RAILWAYS, The Minister of Nducation, replying to Mr Bees, as to whether the Government had any information with regard to selling the railways, said if any such request were made it aould be received with all possible catmon. He had heard that some such message had been received by the Government, but he did not think it was at all likely a favourable answer would be sent by the Government. Mr Rees gave formal notice to ask the question ihe following day. employers' l lability bill. The report of the Committee on this Bill was agreed to, and it was passed. TRUCK BILL. Several amendments were made to the Truck Bill, which was read a third time and passed. SHOP hours' bill. The amendments of the Committee were agreed to, and this Bill was read a third time and passed. OTHER BILLS. The Adulteration Prevention Bill passed through wit Lout amendment, but some important amendments ■were made to the Auctioneers' Bill.
