An enquiry was held yesterday at Oroua Downs into the cause of the death of the man whose skeleton was found there some days ago. The Premier reoeived a cable message to-day from Mr. Witheford, of Auckland, who is at present in Sydney, Btating that he wished to euter into negociations with the Government of New Zealand in tie interests of a powerful English Syndicate to purchase the whole of the N. Z. Railways, The Premier at once replied that the proposal was preposterous, and could not be entertained for a moment.
