Pearce's lthona, 12st 31b, also started, but fell; Canute and The Monk led alternately nntil a quarter of a mile from home, when Canute appeared to be winning easily. Taking the wrong course, Lbwever, he allowed The Monk to win. Time, 6 mine. Dividend, £2 7s.
