Hd stated he was originally a barber, !||| but had been engaged at market gardening for some time. His 3|j garden had been rendered totally ■| ; un6t for cultivation by the overflow |i of water. if Charles Lennox, a gardener of thirty years' experience, deposed I have been in Masterton about: fifteen years; I visited the property of Mr Tayler, and found there some excellent soil. I should think the rental value of the land about £lO an acie. A profit of forty per cent on the cost of the land should be made, after labour has been deducted. I have examined the land and found; vegetables there which were useless for stable purposes, being deluged by the water. I found indications of seeds, which had rotted. The land is utterly useless for gardening purposes owing* to the water. The. land . wj^fj —>* I saw it waß deluged with water frowRenall's creek. The water in the race was much higher than Tayler's land.

This witness was also cross examined at some length by Mr Bunny, S.E. Gapper deposed" that he under stood something about waterworks, and believed the damage to Taylor's property to be caused by RenaU'a race.

The witness was cross-examined by Mr Bunny, when the Court adjourned till two o'clook.
