THEATRE ROYAL.

Sootca Lecture aaa concert. A very interesting and instructive lecture on "Prince Chailie" was given in the Masterton Theatre Boyal laßt evening by the Rev, C. S. Ogq, M.A., the audience being moderately large. The lecturer reviewed at considerable length the historical events connected with the House of Stuart and the life and death of the heroic Prince. The lecture was illustrated by a number of Jacobite songs, rendered with exquisite taste and harmony by ladies and gentlemen from Wellington as follows :—What's a' the Steer Kimmer, chorus; The wee wee German Lairdie, Mr A. Newton ; The Standard on the Braes o' Mar, Miss Watson; Come Oure the Stream, Charlie, Miss Letham; Oure the Watter to Charlie, Miss Newton; Charlie is my darling, Miss Johnston, (Masterton); Wha wadna flcht for Charlie, chorus; Whall be King but Charlie, Miss Watson; Cam ye by Athol, Misses Watson and Letham ; Johnny Cope, Mr A. Newton ; One Hundred Fipers, ohorus; Skye Boat Song, Miss Newton ; Flora Mac--1 donald's Lament, Miss Greig; Will ye no come back again, chorus. The singing of Miss Greig was particularly ! admired, and she wat> loudly encored. . A couple of national airs were given ■ on the bagpipes by Mr W. Stewart, of this township. At the conclusion • ot the lecture a hearty vote of thanks 1 was passed to the Rev. Ogg and his 1 choir, on the motion of the Rev. ■ Wood, and the entertainment was , brought to a close by the singing ol . " AuldLang Syne."
