(United Press Association.) Dunedin, July 3. The annual meeting of the Protection League was held to-night. A suggestion was made that the League should amalgamate with the National Liberal Association. A resolution was passed congratulating the JPremier on the liberal and progressive policy contained in the financial Statement, and expressing ■he hope that he will endeavor to nave the anomalies of the Customs tariff removed during the session. There were only about 10 persons present. Invercabgill, July 3. The sharp frost has broken up and rain fell to-day. Yesterday morning lOdeg. of frost were registered, and the ice was bearing on standing waters, which rarely happens here. The Education Board decided today to set apart one day in the year to be observed as arbor day throughout the district.
