-' ■ \ ■ HgSfer [By Referee.] The following is a criticism of the players to represent Wairarapa in the match against Hawke's Bay on Thursday next: D'aroy, (Masterton), fullback.— Splendid kick, good taokler, strong runner ; safe man, in this position. McCarthy, (Greytown), wing f Dodgy runner, fair taokler, fine kick with either foot; good all round man.' Felling, (Star), wing £ —Good kick, gets away very faßt, and runß well ; only fujjpoollar, but pasßes well. Baumber, (Ureytowu), centre j Very safe man, good kick, and beat tackier in the team j smart pot. J. Pebby, (Masterton), J back—The. veteran of the team ; collar*, kicks and runs splendidly. Thfrjf&i scoring man in the district; his only fault being that he does not pass ' enough, Hawke, (Star,), 'centre s— Good ' kick, and always manages to get the *. ball, away well. Rather poor tackier, and should pass much more. ■ H. Pebby, (Masterton), J—A very J good little man ; slippery asan eel, >, and always on the ball. Spoils his play by being too selfish ; Bhould remember there are three-quarters - v behindhim.
Day, (Masterton), forward—Fine ' all round player, very hard japker, and consistent nil through, '-^ Gray, (Masterton)—First year as a rep. Dashing player, hard And \ ' fast. Has a tendency to kick rather -' hard. N Watson, (Masterton), a splendidforward, plays with tremendous dash, and smothers the opposing baoks very well. Kicks rather.too hard.
Malcolm, (Masterton), an ox-Wel-lington rep. Very strong, hard forward. Uses his head well,''' and ~.' has a fine knowledge of the game, MoKenzie, (Greytown), a very fast dashing forward. Splendid maptgni the line out, and collais but rather an old soldier for w^side, TyLEßj(Greytownj, goocTsorummer. dribbles well, and an honest worker.
Hudson, (Star), good man. Drib* bles and follows up splendidly. Always knows what he is about. Scientific player. Welch, (Star), a daßbing young forward, who goes from start to finish. Hangs onto the ball rather muofa. I think the abcve team should give a very good .account ofjdfEbran selves on Thursday. The Awards are the best Wairarapa has ever pat in the field. The baoks are a good lot too; and will take watching. I uhould like to see Nicholls in the * halves, as the present three are awfully . poor passers. The game depends \ greatly upon this, so I hope for the , sake of the team they will show some • improvement on Thursday. Taking. everything into consideration I think, W airarapa Bhould jurt about win.
