POLITICAL NOTES.
The Bill to give effect to the wishes of the licensed victuallers is to be taken charge of by Captain Bussell. It -will provide for the right ofappeal from the decision of Licensing Committees.
Mr Fergus is to take an early opportunity to show that Mr Seddon has" been retrenching by dismissing one n?an and putting another of his (Mr Seddon's) friends in his place, The subject of charitable aid is to be considered by Ministers during the recess.
The necessity for aa enquiry, into the affairs of the Government Insurance Department is still insisted upon by Mr O'Conor.
From January, 1889.t0 the present time, no less than 1447 removals of railway employees were made. Of these, 62 were at the request of the employees.
Arrangements are to be made for better instruction upon agricultural chemistry. The name of Mr Hamlin has, by his 07?n request, been removed from all Committees. The Hon Mr Rolleston is to be nominated by the Government as a member of the Waste Lands Committee.
