ROAD BOARD.
Tho monthly meeting of the Eketahuna Boad Board was held o Saturday, June 20th.. Present — Messrs Matheson (chairman), M. Nielson, A. Anderson, Parsons, and Dowsett. The minutes of the previous meetin" were read and confirmed. Correspondence.
From B. Morris, Parkville, in reference co putting in culverts on road at Parkville—Mr Parsons stated that the settlers of Parkville were alii" favnr of the culverts being out in. There were sufficient thirds do the work,—Mr Audoroon : There
will, by expending £IOO still be £6O left to meet the loan, and before the interest comes due this year thirds will coine in.—After discussion it was resolved'that a letter be written to the Land Board, asking permission to expend £IOO of thirds on central road, Parkville.
From Surveyor-general, re money expended for the information of Government ut its next sitting. From J. B. Unsworth, Hutt S. S., stating that the bush is burnt and ho wishes to fence, but certain work will have to bo done to the road to enable him to get on his section.—Resolved, that tenders be called for a platform bridge and other work in Hutt S. S. From Mr Schorman, re opening road to his section.—Resolved, that Mr King be instructed to see the | thirds due to Mr Schortnan expended thereon.
From Mr D. McGill, protesting against the gate that is now erected on the Parkville South road. He also waited on the Board on the subject, stating that he had no objection to the gate providing that his cattle were not tamed through it. Lately his cattle were turned out, and it took him three days tofindthem.—Resolved that the Clerk write to Mr MoAnuliy to the effect that tho man who rents section 42 complains of the gate, and that permission was only given to erect the gat? providing settleis did not object.
From Bank of New Zealand, re accounts.
From Colonial Secretary, re Baker's road.
From Mr J. King, re constructing Central Mangahao road, —Resclved, that the Clerk write to the Alfredton. Road Board re steepness of grade on central East Road, stating that it involves a grade of one in seven, and that a deviation might be advisable.
Prom Mr Sraitli, Surveyor-General, stating thai the amount due to Hefty's road, £24, was granted, that being the balance due on loan. A discussion ensued over the application of the Wellington No. 2 Special Settlers' application for formation of a new Road Boanl.—Resolved, that it was not advisable for tbe County to granta new Road Board, as there,would then be four Roid Boards, besides entailing unnecessary .expense in altering boundaries, etc. From the settlers of Mangaone Central Road, re a bridge over the Manguranga stream. —Tenders to be called for the work. Resolved that Mr Anderson be authorised to fall a quantity of bush at usual rate. Deputation. Mr Murdock wailed on the Board re making footpath to Oddfellows hall.
Mr Murdock was informed* thai ihere were no funds for such a work, Pay Sheet.
The following pay sheet was passed: H. Rhodes, £10; J. King, £7 5s 8d ; Lyon and Blair, £1 17s ; M.Kerrins, jB10;Oldon,£18; W. Bayliss, £1 17s Bd. The meeting then adjourned.
