DISASTROUS FIRE.
4 Wawaowe. Destroy©*. [By Telegraph] (United Press Association;) .\. ; t Sydney, June 18. A disastrous fire broke oat at six o'clock this morning in the fine fourstorey warehouse of Messrs McLean Bros, and Bigg, ironmongers, situated in George-street. When first discovered the fire had a firm hold of the premises, which have been completely destroyed, and though the-fire is still (9 a.m) burning, it is well under control. The flames were confined to Messrs McLean's store, but a small building adjoining was demolished by the falling walls. The insurances and extent of damage are not yet ascertained. Later., The fire was subdued shortly after nine this morning, but not before the premises of Messrs Buckingham and, Pepper, diapers, and Hanks, grocer, were completely gutted, A large quantity of explosives, including many hundred cartridges, were stored on Messrs MoLean Bros. andßigg's premises, but fortunately they did not explode.
