LAND BOARD.

The Land Board held an ordinary meeting on Thursday, there being present—Messrs J. H. Baker (Commissioner), A. W.Hogg, ! M<H;R., ; W. Wi McCardle, W. A. Fitzherbert, and D. H. Macarthur, M.H.B. On the motion of Mr McCardle the Board resolved that a title should be granted to Mr J. Gardiner for his seotion in the Pahiatua Tillage Settlement on a report being received that the requisite improvements had been effected. Mr Farelly interviewed the Board with reference to the transfer from Mr W. W. Bodman of seotion 48, block 11, Mangahoe. It was resolved to obtain a report from the ranger. The Commissioner brought up the question of improvements required to be effected before, selectors conld obtain their titles. On the motion of Mr Hogg, seconded by Mr Maoartbur, it was resolved, "That the Government obtain an opinion from the Crown Prosecutor or Crown Law Officers on the subjeot." ../.'. The following applications for transfer were approved:—Seotion 19, blook' 3, Mangahoe, J. James to A. Witt (condidonally); seotion 24, blook 6, Tararua, G. Wood to J. Andrews (conditionally), Leave was given to Mr A. Morgan, selector of 74, block 9, Mangaone, to reside with hia parents pending improvements being effected. The applications of 0... W, Borrenson, Levin Village Settle-" ment, G. R. Bennison, Mangahoe, and J. A Smith, Alfredton Vilage Settlement, to capitalise, - were left to the , Commissioner to deal with. With reference to the petition from selectors in the Wellington Special Settlement Blook, that the Board insisted on compliance Vith conditions of improvements,' the Board decided to reply that all tho defaulters in the block will be called upon to effect their improvements forthwith. The Pahiatua County Council forwarded plans and proposals for expending- accrued thirds on roads in their district, and similar plans were also forwarded from Eketahuna Road Board. < The plans were approved conditionally.
