r Auckland, June 1, Auckland North Licensing Gommitteo to-day granted renewals to a large number of hotels. The Chairman expressed surprise at the complaints made regarding Sunday trading and after hours, and stated it •WBB .the committee's intention to assist the police to put down both, also to adhere to 10 o'clock closing. The Maori Hill Licensing Committee, in granting, a twelve months' renewal" to the only hotel in the district, passed a resolution, notifying that at the next annual meeting the house would be closed, on the ground that it was not required in the neighborhood. ICr Bodlwiia. the south-

The Honß. Seddoa left at 8 o'clock this morning for the Mokotua terminus of the Seaward Bush line, and returned at 10, when he received deputations. He made no promises, but said the intention of the Government in regard to the line would be first made known in the Public WorkJflpatement. He left again at 11 byspecial train for Eiverton and Orepoki, accompanied by the members for the district. He returns at 5 o'clock, when he will receive deputations, and leave for North at midnight by special train.
