BED STARS v. TE ORE ORE,

The junior cap match between the second fifteens of the above Clubs was contested on the Park Oval, in the presence of a great number of spectators, the fair sex being-'well represented. The game from start to finish was an exceedingly interesting one, the teams being very evenly matched. The only score in the first spell was a try obtained by Green, which .H. Welch failed to oonvert. The' Maoriea tried their utmost to get over the coveted line, 1 but were each time nonplussed by, the excellent defensive play of the Star backs. The second spell was still more evenly contested, neither side gaining an advantage till the Star forwards came throuqh with a rush, carrying the ball right over the | line, where it touohed a dog, and therefore was declared a "dead ba11.",, Towards the end of the game, the natives made their winning Bob Ngatuere "marking" cloWTn front af the Star goal. Willy, Karaitianahad no difficulty in plaoing the leather over the bar, amidst the terrific applause of the dusky enthusiasts. Immediately afterwards the Stars rushed down the field, and W, Welch scored by a smart bit of play. Wrigley failed to regißter. From this out the Stars penned their' opponents, and, if time had lasted, would undoubtedly have, scored again. The match, thorefore, resulted in a win for the Natives by 8 points to 2. The usual " free fight" at one period of the game seemed imminent, and it was only at the interference of the spectators that it was checked. The most prominent players of the winners were Joe and Willy Karitisna and Ellers (backs), the Oamerons, Kara, and Dummy (forwards), and of the Stars, Galloway, Thompson, and Renall (backs) and Collier, J. McEenzie, and Butement (forwards). Messrs Hansen (Stars) and Anderson (Te Ore Ore) umpired, and Mr R, Hirschberg acted as referee.,.

The Violets journeyed to the Opaki on Saturday, and defeated the Olub of that place by Sevan points to nil.

Red Stars and Gray town Football Clubs was played on Saturday afternoon at Greytown, and resulted in -a' win for the Stars by three points to two. The try for the I Stare a secured by A. The Stars are to be congratulated upon the manner in which they have over* come serious difficulties this season, for after losing' some of their best players they have gone to work with a will, and have now a team that will bid high for. the Senior Cup. -4

The championship match between Foneke and Petone, played on Saturday, resulted in a draw in favor of the latter, eaoh side securing a try. The Wellingtons defeated the Melrose Club by six points to three.
