LAND BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Land Board was held yesterday morning, and was attended by Messrs D. H. Macarthur, (who was voted to the chair), W. W. McCardle, W. A. Fitzherbert and A. W. Hogg. Mr E. Beattie applied to capitalise the unpaid instalments on section 44, block 14, Makuri. Mr Hogg objected but a proposal by Mr McCardle, seconded by Mr Fitzherbert, to grant the application, was passed. An application by Mr J. McCalmont to capitalise the unpaid instalments on section 81, block 9, Kopuaranga, was granted. The following applications for titles was granted :—M. M. Cleghorn, section 98, block 7, Mangahao; J. Sowry, section 14, block 7, Mangahao. The transfer of section 117 block 1, Mangaone, from W\ Wright to G. H. Scales, was agreed to, provided the Banger's report is favorable. Mr C. Sparkman applied to be allowed to transfer section 45, block 9, Mangaone, to Mr F. M'Anulty, jr. Agreed to. It was resolved that if payments in arrears are made, Mr J. O. Eastwood should be allowed to take Mr W. J, Armstrong as a partner in section 5, block 1, Aohanga. The question of the transfer of j section 88, block 18, Mangahao, from' E. W. West to G. Tumor, and the exchange of this section with section 61, block 8, Mangahao, was considered, and the Board resolved to approve of the transfers. The Board gave its approval to the transfer of section 15, block 1, Kopuaranga, from Mr C. Forsberg to Mr J. P. Petersen. The question of selectors making new declarations when the • arrears on survey are found to be greater than they applied for was considered, and it was resolved that the one declaration was sufficient. Mr R. Z. Davis wrote explaining why he had not effected his improvements on sections 8 and Ba, blocks 8 and 15, Mangaone and Mangahao. The Board resolved to grant the usual extension. It was resolved to obtain a report from the ranger with reference to Mr J. Sinclair's application to have the tenure of part 2, section 83, block 7, Mangahao, altered to perpetual lease. Mr J. G. Mabey asked for time to let a contract to fell the bush on section 127, block 1, Mangaone. The Board decided to inform him that he must let a contract for 44 acres. The selector of section 13, block 10, Man-, j gaone, wrote with reference to the cancellation of his interest, and asked | that the same should be rescinded, and time given him to comply with the conditions. Resolved to rescind the cancellation provided the selector pays up to the 15th June and complies with the conditions of his lease. The Surveyor* General forwarded a proclamation throwing the Kaiwhata Grown lands open for selection on the small grazing run system, and asked that the Board should fix the upset price at what the runs are to be offered. Mr Drummond waited on the Board and stated that the land was very poor, and should be offered at the lowest possible price. Consideration was deferred. The Board decided to issue a title to Mrs S. Hounslow for section 51, block 7, Mangaone. A list of cases in which the Land Act has not been complied with wa3 laid before the Board. The explanation of Mr J. Ebbett, section 2, block 7, Mangahao, was considered satisfactory, The Board approved the transfer of Messrs O'Reilly. Wfth reference to Mr Elgar's applications for land at Dry River, Mr Mackenzie, Acting Chief Surveyor, recommended that the excess of 41 acres 0 roods 4 perches on 2000 acres of second-class land should be allowed, subject to all parties interested agreeing to the arrangement. The Board concurred.
