ALFREDTON ROAD DISTRICT.
The annual meeting of ratepayers on Tuesday was attended by seven persons, the chair be»ng occupied by Mr Rebbell. The Chairman, in referring to the conduct ot the business of the Board for the past year, stated that the debt had been reduced from £l3O to £7O 6s 5d -id. The feeling of the meeting appeared to be that Girdwood's line should be proceeded with. A vote of thanks was passed to the Chairman on the motion of Mr Warren, seconded by Mr Eade. The Chairman, in reply to Mr J. A. Smith, stated that the loan for metalling had been granted on conditions that a toll be pstablished. The matter, however, rested with the County Council. The question of a cemetery site and other matters were also discussed. Okdinaky Meeting. The ordinary meeting ot the Board was subsequently held, when an application from Mr Eade to expend thirds on his property was granted, and correspondence read as follows: —From the agent of Dr Irving, requesting that thirds be expended in Pah Valley; from Eketahuua Poad Board regarding loan for Central Mangaone road; from Pahiatua County Council, asking particulars of works proposed in Pah Valley ; from Castlepoint Road Board re Leech Bros' property.
It was resolved to inform the County Counsil that the Road Boara agrees to the transfer of Leech Bros' property to the Alfredton riding.
The consideration of the question of the Central Mangaone road wa> held over. A communication was received from the Survey Department, refus-* ing to deviate the Pah Valley road. Messrs Brannigan and Connell offered to erect a foot bridge over the Ihurana stream for £lo.—lt was resolved to invite tenders for the erection of bridges over the Ihurana and. Te Hoe streams.
Accounts amounting to £65 were passed for payment, Mr A Peterson's account of 28s being held over. An authority was given to Mr E f Saunders to fell a road line in hi bush at 80s per acre, if the Lanci Board approved of same. It was decided to place £4O for tho road in the hands of the Count) Council, also that the Board advertise again for tenders for Lowes' bridges.
A vote of thanks to the Chairman terminated the business.
