STREET OBSTRUCTION.

I (To the Editor.) Sib, —I think it is time the attention of thepolice was directed to the crowds of iarrikins who congregate |on Saturday evenings, completely blocking the footpath, and filling the I air with tobacco smok6 and disgusting language. On two occasions on ! Saturday evening I saw ladies have to leave the footpath and walk through the muddy Street to get past one of these orowdg. To make matters worse an individual yery much the worse for drink came along and to their apparent delight commenced to abuse any one and every one, in language thai was filthy iq the extreme, and as usual a police'* man was invisible- I would appeal to the good sense and manners of the young men who hold their open air meetings to diseuss football and other matters to haye a little more respect for the ladies, and to be more choice in their langitage. I would also like to remind them how very unpleasant it is for ladies and noQ-smokers to hsve clouds of tobacoo smoke blown in their faces, which they are obliged to inhale. £do not wish to infer tbat these young men, anil old ones too, do not know any better, because I think it is more fyoEfl thoughtlessness than anything else, and should this come under their notice I hope they Avillendeavovto mend their ways. Thanking you in anticipation.—l am, &c., Resident.
