At a meeting of the Rugby Union, a resolution was paßsed unanimously, that in the opinion of the Union '?' smoke concerts after football matches are in many respeots undesirable, and in no way advantageous to footballers, and that members be requested to refrain from taking part in any festival of the kind whenever it can be avoided. The Union is sending this to other Unions in the hope that it will be adopted. The Australia lUisißg. Gisborne, Saturday. The Union Co.'s steamer Australia left Auckland on Tuesday evenings ; and Tauranga at 1 p.m. ou day. She has not since been heard of. Mr. Pierce seemed to be in good health in tho I morning and attended Bervice in St. Sepnlohre'a Churoh. His death is. greatly regretted, as he was highly I esteemed.
