THE UNEMPLOYED.
DEPUTATION TO MINISTERS. [By Telegraph.] (United Press Associaton.) Wellington, FridayA deputation of the unemployed waited on Ministers at noon. Mr D. P. Fisher said they represented 101 men. and since the meeting on Thursday it had received 65 more names. There were 812 children on them. He knew of many more, and there were quite three hundred altogether out of work. The Premier said the Government recognised a certain duty devolved on them to keep the people m work, but they could not find employment at their trades. All they had was road-mak-ing. Tie thought they could provide for about a hundred. They would send them to districts and find tools. Speaking generally he thought a cure for the attraction of _ labour to the towns was to be found in Village Settlements. Only a few days ags blocks were set apart in the Wairarapa for this purpose and he hoped to see some men now asking for work settled there.
