(By Telegraph). (Per Press Association). I More Setrenobmeat Wellington, Thursday. clerks in the head office of the Govornmeut Life Insurance have been retrenched. Their salaries aggregate to over £IOOO, and the compensation to be paid them will amount to £7OO, It is understood no further retrenchment will be effected in this department.

Income Tax Wellington, Thursday., The Government have so far progressed with the drawing out of the naw taxation scheme, as praotically to Lave decided that the money now obtained from the Property Tax shall be raised by means of a tax oa unimproved land with exemption up to £SOO, and a tax on incomes, with exemption up to £BOO. The amount of the latter will be sixpence in the pound.
